At the Crawford House we have an area that is preserved as the site of a burial ground for enslaved Africans who worked at Lewis Morris’s ironworks back in the 17th century. This important site had become overgrown and unsightly, and we were planning to have a group of volunteers begin the process of cleaning up and reclaiming the area. Thankfully, the Borough of Tinton Falls Department of Public Works stepped in to help us get it under control and to assure its future attractiveness. Many thanks to the Borough for their help! Now we are planning a Juneteenth celebration instead, to draw attention to our local African-American history. Join us on Saturday June 19th at 3 pm!
